Market Show Rules:
*Entry fees $20/head per show before June 21, 2019.
*All entries after June 21st, including day of show, $25/head.
*Market Show open to exhibitors 21 and under (day of show).
*Pens and trailer areas MUST be cleaned prior to leaving.
*Health papers required for all out of state exhibitors.
*All Sheep and Goats must have USDA Scrapie Ear Tag.
*Goat Classes will be split by weight according to the number of animals.
*Sheep Classes will be divided based on weight Friday night.
*Sheep Classes will be divided by breed classification and weight for Saturday's show.
*Sheep Must be classified at Weigh-in. No re-classifications allowed.
*Saturday's Classes and Order in show:
Suffolk, Hampshire, Natural, Southdown, White Face, Specks, Crossbred**
*Wethers/Does show together
*All hogs must have ear tags for identification.
*Hogs must have breed papers to register for Purebred Show.
*Pedigrees must be present at check-in
* Hogs that do not meet breed qualifications may show in Crossbred Hog Show
*Hogs cannot be shown in both the Purebred and the Crossbred Hog Show
*Purebred Hog classes and show order: Yorkshire, Hampshire, Duroc, Bershire, AOB
*Crossbred Hog Show classes will be based on weight.
*Gilts and Barrows will be shown together.
*Gilts will be first followed by barrows in both shows, with Purebred show first in morning.
*The Purebred Grand and Reserve Champion Hog will compete in a final drive with the Crossbred Grand and Reserve Champion Hog for Overall Champion and Reserve Market Hog.
*Showmanship Classes will follow VSC Ages (Open to 19 and under).
Seniors: Ages 16-19
Intermediate: Ages 13-15
Junior: Ages 9-12
Pee Wee: Ages 8 and under

*Animals must be shown in market by exhibitor to be eligible for Showmanship for Junior, Intermediate, and Senior exhibitors. Pee Wee exhibitors do NOT have to show in market to be eligible for showmanship.
*Each exhibitor must show the same animal in all classes. Meaning an exhibitor cannot show one animal in their class and a different animal in the final drive. Switching of animals will result in the exhibitor being disqualified from showmanship.
*Entry Fee is $5 cash, payable at the show ring, for Junior, intermediate, & Seniors.
*Showmanship prizes will be cash payback (50%,30%,20%)top three of each division.
*No Entry Fee for Pee Wee and a prize will be awarded to each exhibitor
** Note: Classification of sheep at Showdown in the Sand is in no way a reflection, standard, or guarantee of how an animal will classify at the State Fair of Virginia. Any classification at Showdown in the Sand is solely for class designation at Showdown in the Sand.
